AMA STATEMENT

The AMA statement against Home Birth and their description of Nurse Midwives as fickle allies concerns me on many levels. While Home Birth is not for everyone we cannot lose our right to choose where and how we birth our babies. I for one do not do Home Births at this time but certainly believe that it is your choice. I provide services to women in hospital on the Birth Center Model of care and resent any attempts to change my practice style. I do not believe that women need all of the medical interventions that hospitals are forcing on more and more women. Women were designed to have babies without Epidurals, IV's and Episiotomies and they should not be subjected to these interventions without cause. Although I am probably preaching to the choir but I had to say it.

Forum: Women's Health Issues

Waterbirth VBAC

Hi Lonnie-
I would love to attempt a VBAC with my next baby (starting to think about TTC) and am very interested in a water birth. At the minimum, I would like to labor in a tub and wouldn't mind birthing wherever (and however!) I needed to. My first birth ended up in a C-section partly because Mountainside Hospital wouldn't let me use the birthing tub for pain relief and the shower in my room was broken. No pain relief, no support, and 18 hrs later...section.
So.
Does Palisades allow and have the facilities for VBAC laboring in a tub?
Thanks--
Tricia

Forum: Preparing for a Beautiful Birth
